Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Announces Winner of WPT Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open Championship

Player Brian Altman of Longmeadow, MA Wins $723,008

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (February 12, 2015) – Brian Altman of Longmeadow, Mass. walked away with $723,008 after winning first place in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open $3 Million Guaranteed Championship held February 5 – February 11, 2015. Runner up Mark Dube of Newbuyport, Mass. walked away with $434,462.

The showcase event ran February 5 – February 11 featuring 30,000 in tournament chips and three flights that drew 1,027 entries, generating a $3,286,400 prize pool – surpassing the $3 million guarantee.  Players were able to play either starting flight or both if they were eliminated on Day 1A. Re-entry was allowed until the start of level seven.

The winning battle took 55 hands to settle, when Altman’s flopped flush topped Dube’s set of Aces. When commenting about the play, Altman said, “It’s certainly nice and pretty amazing that things materialized the way they did, and a nice bonus to get away from the winter snow up north.” He continues, “This is my first time here and was very impressed with the venue, the staff, the dealers, and the beautiful casino.”

Altman and Dube had 23 million of the 30 million chips in play to start the last day and Jon Graham, Sanjay Gehi, and Greg Rosen were quickly eliminated. Kelly Minkin was the last woman standing in the tournament, but the Arizona-based attorney had to settle for a 3rd place finish. Her knockout set up a huge heads-up battle between the players who dominated the previous two days of action. There were 260 big blinds between them when they started with Dube holding a slight lead.

Luck was on the side of South Florida’s Greg Rosen when he arrived at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to purchase a $100 ticket for a championship satellite hosted onsite that resulted in him making it to the final table, where he walked away the fourth place winner.

Final table results:
