In October 2015, in the town sung about in one of the band’s earliest hits, “Hollywood Swinging,” Kool & the Gang was honored to take its place as American musical icons with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In the spring of 2016, Kool & the Gang received a nod from the group’s home state when it was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. In the band’s hometown of Jersey City, it received a touching tribute when a street the group grew up on was renamed to Kool & the Gang Way in its honor.

One of the greatest Motown and R&B/Funk artists of all time, The Commodores’ Walter “Clyde” Orange, James Dean “JD” Nicholas and William “WAK” King have influenced artists young and old and in all genres with their classic songs, including “Brick House,” “Three Times A Lady,” “Easy”, “Sail On” and “Nightshift.” Grammy Award winners and Vocal Group Hall of Fame inductees with more than 75 million albums sold, seven No. 1 singles, five No. 1 albums and 20 Top 10 singles, The Commodores are bigger than ever as they continue to blaze trails all over the world.
