Rising Poker Star Dan Colman of Holden, Massachusetts Wins $1,446,710
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (September 4, 2014) – Dan Colman of Holden, Mass. walked away with more than $1.4 million after winning first place in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship held August 28 – September 3, 2014. The $10 million guaranteed Championship event provided over one million dollar payouts to the first and second place winners. Runner up Mike Leah of Innisfil, Ontario walked away with $1,047,638.
The second annual Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open tournament series ran August 14 – September 3, and had tremendous success, with the opening event attracting 2,888 entries for over $866,000 in prize money, and the $560 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em event attracting 2,767 entries for nearly $1.4 million prize pool.
The showcase event featured 1,499 entrants gunning for the signature $10 million guaranteed prize pool. The tournament attracted past WSOP bracelet winners, WPT Champions, high-stakes grinders, and many local players. Seven WSOP Main Event winners took their shot at the title with Huck Seed, Carlos Mortensen, Scotty Nguyen, Jamie Gold, Joe Cada, Greg Merson, and reigning champion Ryan Riess all joining the field. The 2013 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Champion, Blair Hinkle, made a great run defending his title, cashing out in the championship.
As a bonus, the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship final table was live streamed by PokerStars.tv. The audience was able to watch tremendous play as Dan Colman, Mike Leah, Shawn Cunix, John Dolan, Joe Kuether and Martin Hanowski provided a must see final table. The heads up stacks were relatively equal between Colman and Leah when the final match began but Colman quickly gained the advantage in a huge pot with a rivered full house. They were coming up on a short dinner break when Colman finally ended it when his ace-king outlasted Leah’s queen-jack.
